COMPONENT DESIGN

LMC have supported clients for over 30 years with the design of on-board components and systems.

These contracts have either been as bespoke engineering contracts for specific vessel or system upgrades and modifications, or, as part of a larger engineering or EPC scope of delivery, whereby the piping, mechanical, electrical, and condition monitoring systems are all part of the overall supply.

STRUCTURAL COMPONENT ENGINEERING

LMC perform the following structural component detailed design:
• Flare towers
• Topside module supports
• Crane pedestals
• Tank rearrangement and additions
• Riser and power cable hang-off balconies
• Mooring Balconies
• Bulwarks, and green water protection

PIPING SYSTEMS ENGINEERING

LMC have defined and designed a full range of piping and valve systems for the FPSO sector. Systems have included high pressure hydrocarbons, gas systems, water injection and gas lift systems, gas export lines and offloading systems.
As part of the detailed design, LMC typical perform the following:
• Piping layouts, PFDs and P&IDs
• Pipe stress assessments
• Pipe support detailing
• Valve lists, specifications, and procurement datasheets

FLUID SWIVEL SYSTEM ENGINEERING

LMC has an in-house swivel development department that supports the EPC business arm for turret moorings. See FLUID AND POWER TRANSFER SYSTEMS for more details of our Fluid Swivel Systems.

MECHANICAL SYSTEMS ENGINEERING

LMC have a strong mechanical department that works on the development of our in-house mooring connectors, and supports the project with mechanical handling systems, installation aids and equipment expertise. The majority of our projects require knowledge of the methodologies and systems available for offshore installation, and the subtleties of the equipment required for installing different mooring configurations.

ELECTRICAL, INSTRUMENTATION AND CONTROL SYSTEMS ENGINEERING

Through our EPC supply of large and complex turret systems, LMC have gained an in-depth knowledge of electrical, instrumentation, and control systems. Our engineering encompasses cable sizing calculations and layouts, HV systems, switch gear, junction box and termination box design and specification, control and condition monitoring systems, lighting, and navigational aids.

SUBSEA SYSTEMS ENGINEERING

LMC perform the global analysis and design of subsea dynamic components. Working together with the supply chain, LMC perform dynamic power cable, umbilical, and riser system global configuration analysis and clashing assessments, as well as define the tensions, bending radii and clearance results from the Orcaflex analysis.

Our subsea engineering incorporates the structural components, and includes the design of Pipeline End Manifolds, Mid Water Arches, and Tether Bases and clamping structures.
